Principal

As we begin the 22-23 school year at Foothills Elementary School, I am beyond honored and blessed to be part of such an amazing faculty, staff, and families. In my time here I have noticed that FHE teachers are passionate about their work, collaboration is very evident, a high rigor and pace is set, a belief that all children can learn exists, FHE traditions are solid, and teachers support one another.

About Me:  My husband Sal and I have three children. My oldest son, AJ will be a junior at the University of Tennessee, Sal Jr. will be a freshman at the University of Tennessee, and Gabe will be a eighth grader at Maryville Junior High School. I absolutely love spending time with anything that has to do with the “Schito boys”! I enjoy traveling, cooking, baking, reading, and spending time and catching up with those dear to me.

Prior to our move to Tennessee, I spent 22 years in public education in Northeast Pennsylvania and have brought many experiences and a skill set to build a collaborative partnership with all stakeholders. This year marks the beginning of my 28th year in education and I have been blessed to have a career that I love so passionately.

I am grateful and take great pride in being part of Maryville City Schools.  As a faculty, we are committed  and ready to serve our students and families. Please do not hesitate to contact me as my door is always open...

Yours in education,

Mrs. Karen Schito
